Donna Moss
An interview with our New England Cup Captain...
Q: Why golf?
A: Unlike tennis, which I started playing when I was a young'n, I found if one practices, one can get better as one ages. At 40 in the tennis world, it's a greased slide; you'll never be as strong, fast, nimble, etc. as you were when you were 20 or 30. Since I didn't take up golf until "middle aged", I can only get better, which for a competitive sports junkie, is quite satisfying .
Q: Biggest accomplishment on the course?
A" This had to be when I was hired by a young couple to design their Myrtle Beach home on a golf course, knowing I loved the game. All expenses paid for design consultation at a luxurious hotel on the beach and an invitation to play with the "boys" daily in the afternoon, "if I could keep up". I shot an 82 the first time out, so I was IN.
Q: And if your weren't doing what you do, what would you be doing?
A: So obviously you've gathered I am an interior designer, and I honestly can't imagine doing anything else. I love what I do, creating spaces to live, work, play, learn, and dine (one of my other favorite things), is so very rewarding. Making the design experience fun for my clients, as I think it should be, is what sets me apart from most other professionals in my business.
Q: What is your perfect weekend day?
A: Tennis in the morning, a lovely lunch on the terrace, golf in the afternoon, followed by a drinks and dinner somewhere special. A good cigar ......nah.
Q: Last book you read?
A: Loved and highly recommend "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", followed by the next two ensuing novels. You won't be able to put them down.
Q: Favorite movie?
A: Caddyshack, of course.
Q: Ideal foursome?
A: I am so envious of "golf families"; parents and grandparents, playing golf with their children and grandchildren. I hope one day my daughter's two children who have been growing up in Asia and London, will invite me to play in a member guest. I've given up on ever getting my lovely daughter interested in golf, but maybe someday......That would be a foursome!
Q: What can our EWGA chapter do to help you get more out of your membership?
A: Basically, they've done it. By asking me to captain our match play team for the New England Cup, which won, I am happily obliged to be more involved.
